Product Focus – Ermenegildo Zegna Woolen Suiting

Did you know?

The current “nip” in the weather makes it the perfect season for woolen suiting. Woolen means texture – and that is the key with these fabrics. Identified as wool, and with a fuzzy or “napped” feel to the exterior of the fabric. These fabrics provide warmth and a seasonally appropriate option for the cold months ahead.

Our featured woolen fabric this week is a beautiful Wool/Cashmere blend from Ermenegildo Zegna Cloth. A blend of 95% wool with a touch of 5% cashmere which adds just the right about of luxe feel and look to these fabrics. Two colorways available, a classic soft grey, and a greige that adds a hint of brown. Both colorways combined with a classic herringbone pattern makes a fantastic “woolen” addition to your Client’s wardrobe.

How you can incorporate Wool Winter suiting into your wardrobe?

A woolen fabric can make a great addition to your wardrobe in a sportcoat, trouser, or both. Think about investing in both pieces as you could wear these together as a suit for an upcoming holiday party, or for the office. These pieces offer you so many options. Now is the season to take advantage of these wonderful fabrics from Ermenegildo Zegna Cloth.

The Sportcoat

The obvious choice is a sportcoat which you could wear with a number of different looks – from dress to casual. You could go with a classic sportcoat with soft construction, or for a more daring look you could try a deconstructed fabrication which makes a beautiful more “casual” jacket you can wear with anything. Another option is the winter favorite ”Windstopper“ Jacket which adds even more versatility to a sportcoat. Easily paired with our selection of shirts and knits, with a chino or 5-pocket.

Here’s a great way to wear the Greige Herringbone sportcoat. The brown tones in this look is sophisticated and appropriate for a number of occasions while elevating the entire look.

The Trouser

Don’t forget the trouser – a woolen trouser makes a fantastic substitute for jeans or works well for cold commutes to the office. Have some fun with the styling – maybe side tabs, a cuff (cuffs look really great on these fabrics and adds to the appeal – and can be worn casually). Pair with a great Fall shirt, or a cashmere sweater.

When wearing a separate trouser, think about other items you could add to the look rather than just a shirt. Here the Espresso Cashmere sweater adds a nice layer to the look while staying in the brown tones. Then adding a sneaker keeps the look modern and fresh. This could easily be a casual Friday look, or great for the holidays as well.

The Suit

The woolen suit makes us think about how classic and timeless a grey flannel suit can be. The film, The Man in the Grey Flannel Suit, exemplifies the popularity as Gregory Peck donned his version of this suit back in 1956. It’s a classic option for a man’s wardrobe and really deserves sartorial greatness. Think about a simply styled suit in either of our featured herringbone fabrics, with a dress shirt and tie, or with a knit shirt and sneakers for a more modern take.

Here we offer two ways to wear the Soft Grey Herringbone Suit – dressed up with a classic white shirt and black tie ala the aforementioned classic film. Or a more modern look with the Black Wool Reda Knit.
